Breakouts and acne-prone skin = bane of life. Shout out to Indeed Labs for putting complexion-fixes, feelings of cool air on a hot day and Facetune in a bottle.

I don’t know about you, but I’m a bit of a junkie when it comes to skincare and beauty products. I’m sure you’re all sick to death about my references to Space NK and pretty packaging (#sorrynotsorry), but when it comes to skincare products I’ve never really said much. The main reason is that I’ve suffered from really horrible hormonal/cystic acne for the best part of 5 years. I’ll save the full spiel on my skin “journey” for another day, but basically having highly acne-prone skin means that I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting lotions and potions to try. That, and forever stalking the pages of Into The Gloss for recommendations whilst praying for Glossier-girl dewiness.

And so when I came across Canadian-based skincare brand Indeed Labs (available in Boots – yass) I got super excited. And not just because of its super simple yet colourful packaging (because I swear I can be such a product thot sometimes).

I’ve been using the following gems over the past few weeks and am low-key obsessed. I promise you, I would NOT say that if it wasn’t true. Having acne-prone skin absolutely sucks and so if something hasn’t been working for me I’m gonna tell you about it!

The Serum

Word on the skincare street is that Vitamin C should be your best friend if you’re looking to fade discolouration from acne and generally have brighter, more even skin. I’ve been swapping out my Caudalie Vinoperfect serum for Indeed Labs’ Vitamin C24 serum for a while now and I’m glad for it. It’s super light in texture and kind of disappears when you apply it – almost in the same way that primer does – which I love. Because if there’s one thing I hate in this life, it’s greasy products. Jesus gave me greasy skin, so I’m not about to throw on some more greasiness if I don’t have to.

One thing to note: it’s pretty potent. Because of its high Vitamin C content, it really tingles on application. I personally don’t mind this, but it’s best to let you know just in case you have sensitive skin. But I do think that it’s really helped to balance my skin’s natural oil production and helped my complexion to look more even. Win win.

The Gel Moisturiser

I’ve never been a fan of thick moisturisers in general, especially when it comes to my face. I kid you not, the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Jelly cream makes me feel like one of those girls splashing her face with water in the Neutrogena adverts (and not in a messy way). The gel formula melts into my skin straight away, and feels especially wonderful and calming when used right after the Vitamin C serum (above). Also, a little goes a long way so I’m sure it’ll last me for a long time.

I reckon this Moisture Jelly will be even more of a godsend than it already is once summer hits and I need my face to feel light and fresh. And – because packaging is everything – it comes in a cool little see-through and pink pot where you press the top downwards and a little blob of jelly comes out of the top. Cheap thrills.

The “Nanoblur”

Have you ever spent ages editing a selfie for the ‘gram using Lightroom or Snapseed or Factune, and softening the image’s focus so that you look a little, well, airbrushed? Don’t lie, you’ve done it. But put down your phones for a second (well, after you’ve read this, ahem) because Indeed Labs’ Nanoblur formula is basically soft focus in a bottle. I’ve tried this a few times on top of my every day makeup on the areas either side of my nose – aka Pores Central – and I did notice that my pores looked invisible/smaller in size. But I want to give it a few more goes and I’ll keep you guys posted!

My absolute favourite of all three has to be the Moisture Jelly, hands down. Feels like a cool fan in your face during a hot day. Like a Magnum bar that you forgot you had in the freezer on those days when it’s 28 degrees out. Like the cool side of the pillow. I could go on.

  • Awesomedout Enshira

    Great Post!
Thanks for the in depth review. I am always on the look out for products that can fade my dark spots, so I will be sure to check it out 🙂

    • Thanks so much! Ugh you and me both *cries* The Vit C24 is definitely my favourite for fading dark spots right now, although I’d also recommend Caudalie Vinoperfect serum as mentioned above and Mario Badescu’s Vit C serum xx

  • Brighter, more even skin? Sounds like exactly what I want in my life. Might have to give the Vitamin C a go, especially after your recommendation for my stressed out skin x

    • Yaay I’d definitely recommend it! As I said it does make your skin sting momentarily but in my books that means it’s working! *covers face*
