If you’re a frequent reader of my ramblings, you’ll know that I’m no stranger to wearing work clothes outside of the office. I think I formed this habit at secondary school. I became obsessed with our netball team’s red pleated miniskirt, and started wearing it off the court – much to the amusement of my team mates (haters).
On most week days, I’ll be wearing a turtleneck jumper of some sort and tailored trousers. Don’t get me wrong, I love to wear pencil skirts and dresses now and again – whilst shamelessly pretending in my mind that I’m Rachel Zane. But there’s something about a well-cut pair of trousers that just makes me feel put together yet totally comfortable. Plus, my dear friend Olivia Pope* is no stranger to a trouser suit, and that’s good enough for me. And then on the Saturdays and Sundays when I want to wear something a bit smarter than basic jeans and a t-shirt?
*True story: I totally channelled the character of Olivia Pope in my law school advocacy exam and smashed it. Good tailoring really is magical.
